American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night position requiring an AZ or compact license and strong telemetry skills.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care hospital setting on a 49-bed 3rd floor Med/Surg Telemetry unit
- Patient population includes CHF, respiratory, GI, diabetes, COVID, telemetry, post cath, and total joint replacement cases
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
- Uses Cerner EMR system, with prior experience recommended due to limited orientation
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with self-scheduling, subject to manager adjustments
- Requires working two weekends per four-week schedule
- Holiday coverage expected for major holidays and their eves
- Floating may be required to East Campus and PCU if qualified
- Navy blue scrubs required
- RNs do not titrate drips but may manage set-rate drips such as Diltiazem/Cardizem
- Nurse aides are available with typical aide-to-patient ratios of 1:10-15
- Both charge nurse and house supervisor present on unit
- One-day unit orientation provided
- No call or standby required
- Candidates employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year (except PRN via outside firms) are not eligible
- Holiday coverage required for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's including corresponding eves or days
- First time travelers are considered
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum two years of recent RN experience
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must pass dysrhythmia (telemetry) exam with at least 80% within two attempts before contract
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips and sign documentation at least once per shift
- Experience with CVA, TIA, total joint replacement, and reading basic tele strips preferred
- Ability to care for patients utilizing BiPAP, CPAP, and provide breathing treatments
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one supervisor or peer from the past three years
- Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
