American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an acute inpatient rehab/medsurg unit night shift position requiring a NE or compact RN license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities- Work in a 35-bed acute inpatient rehab/medsurg unit
- Serve adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses such as stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, brain injury, critical illness, and neurological diseases including MS and Parkinson's
- Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights
- Antibiotics, anticoagulation, and antiplatelet drips may be administered, but titrating drips is not required
- EPIC is used for charting
- 12-hour night shifts with a minimum of every 3rd weekend required
- At least 2 holiday shifts required per contract
- Self-scheduling in a cyclic system is available
- No call or standby requirements
- Required to float to other med/surg units as needed
- Charge nurse and nurse aides/patient care techs are staffed on the unit
- Responsibilities include providing comprehensive care, collaborating closely with the care team, and utilizing excellent communication and organizational skills
- Classroom and two 12-hour unit orientation shifts provided
- Artificial nails are prohibited for all patient care staff
- Holiday coverage is expected for at least two holidays during the contract
- A strong emphasis on teamwork and a compassionate, inclusive work culture
- Up to 7 days of requested time off (RTO) permitted if requested up front; additional RTO will not be approved
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- First time travelers will be considered
- Active NE or compact RN license (NLC) in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Experience with adult and geriatric populations in acute care or rehab recommended
- Driver’s license required for eligibility verification related to the 50-mile radius rule
- Must not currently be employed in any capacity at facilities associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI or Dignity
- Candidates must pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a score of at least 90%
