American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position requiring an OR RN license, ACLS, BLS, and proficiency with titrating critical drips.
Responsibilities- Work in a 4-bed ICU within an acute care, small community hospital
- Typical patient population includes DKA, septic shock, ETOH withdrawal, hypoxemia, acute respiratory distress, and COVID
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:2
- Required to titrate drips including propofol, levophed, dobutamine, precedex, fentanyl, insulin, esmolol, versed, and ketamine
- Uses Epic EMR system; experience preferred
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM); 2 week block schedule; typically grouped 3-4 shifts in a row
- Every other weekend required
- May be required to float to IMCU or MS units with full assignment; may assist in ED depending on previous ED experience
- No call or standby requirements
- Responsibilities include ICU-level patient care, titrating drips, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Charge nurse supervises MS, IMCU, and ICU units; does not take a patient assignment unless necessary
- Nurse aids shared with Med/Surg unit; monitor techs support the unit
- Hospitalist onsite 24/7; intensivist in-house weekdays, telemedicine coverage after hours and weekends
- RT available in the ICU 24/7; responsible for respiratory treatments
- Unit/department orientation consists of 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
- Expected to work holidays if they fall on scheduled shifts; may enter holiday rotation
- Dress code allows any color scrubs; must maintain clean, professional appearance with natural hair colors and no visible face tattoos
- Active OR RN license required
- Minimum of 2 years ICU experience required
- Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Preferred but not required: TNCC and PALS certifications
- Must be comfortable reading and interpreting tele strips with Mindray monitors
- Previous experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Ability to function independently in a small hospital setting with limited resources
- First-time travelers will be considered
