American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring critical care experience and a MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a 38-bay PACU unit within a large Level I Trauma and Magnet Teaching Hospital
- Patient population includes adults, occasional adolescents, and geriatrics recovering from diverse surgeries excluding open heart and liver transplants
- Care for post-op cases such as neurosurgery, ENT, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, and transplant
- 4x10 hour shifts, Monday through Friday with rotating start times as needed
- No weekend or call requirements
- Floating may occur within PACU or PreOp units as needed
- Uses EPIC charting system; EPIC experience preferred
- Unit staffed 24/7 with dedicated PCT/transport team
- Recover a diverse array of acute post-op patients including complex trauma and surgical cases
- No responsibility for recovery of open heart or liver transplant patients
- Must wear navy blue scrubs
- Must pass fit testing; facial hair must allow for proper testing or shaving may be required
- Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO during the first week of assignment
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler to this health system
- Standard travelers may stay up to 18 months with a required 3-month break afterwards
- Pre-employment modules and compliance must be completed prior to start
- Active MO or compact RN license required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of inpatient critical care or PACU experience
- Experience with Level I Trauma Centers and Phase I PACU
- Skills in dysrhythmia recognition, blood product administration, phlebotomy, IV vasopressors, ICP monitoring, care of ventilated patients, and starting IVs required
- Ability to recognize and manage dysrhythmias and respond to acute post-op needs
- Experience with EPIC charting preferred
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility—no local candidates allowed
- First-time travelers are accepted
