This position is for a full-time night Registered Nurse specializing in orthopedic and spine postoperative care in a high-acuity inpatient unit. The nurse is responsible for providing patient-centered care, coordinating with other departments, and maintaining patient confidentiality while working in a team-oriented environment focused on excellence. The role requires relevant nursing licensure, certifications such as ACLS and BLS, and physical ability to perform patient care duties.
Utilizes the nursing process to provide patient care. Maintains professional accountability for provision of patient care for the assigned patients. Evaluates the overall effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers. Coordinates the patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintains patient rights and confidentiality of patient information. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. We are a high-paced, high-energy 36 bed Orthopedic Unit, specializing in the care of spinal surgery patients, along with medical patients. We have an exceptional unit highlighted by teamwork and dedication. We are a growing team who is working towards becoming a Center of Excellence and Joint Commission Certified Spine Program.
• 5:1 Patient to Nurse Ratio
• 1 of 2 Inpatient Units Dedicated to post operative spine patients
• Advanced Certification and Education Oriented Unit
• Dedicated Spine Specialization Program
Personalized Orientation Process focusing on competent care of the postoperative spine
Qualifications:
- Education : Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program
- Licensure : Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
- Physical requirements/demands : Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis. Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift. Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
- Certifications :
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire
- Other unit specific certifications as required or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe.
