Responsibilities and Duties

• Perform tests and examine patients' eyes and vision, evaluating each component
• Analyze and listen to patients' descriptions of symptoms to diagnose eye disorders, diseases, or injuries
• Examine patients for symptoms indicative of organic or congenital ocular disorders and determine the nature and extent of the disorder or injury
• Conduct various tests to determine vision loss
• Prescribe and administer medications and perform procedures, as indicated
• Direct remedial activities to aid in regaining vision or utilizing remaining sight, including writing prescriptions for corrective glasses and instructing patients in eye exercises
• Inform patients about diagnoses and treatment options to ensure understanding and informed decision-making
• Complete accurate documentation of ocular and vision diagnoses and treatments according to QI Standards and standards of care

Additional Information

• Wisconsin optometry license required
• Board certification in Optometry required
• IHS/FQHC experience preferred
• Minimum of 3 years experience preferred
