American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in a Maternal Child department, requiring WY or compact RN license and advanced fetal monitoring certifications.
Responsibilities- Position is in a hospital Maternal Child department including Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, Well-Baby, and Level II Nursery
- Care for patients in 4 LDR rooms, 15 postpartum rooms, 7 well-baby beds, and 7 NICU beds
- Labor & Delivery nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2, with 1:1 for mothers on Pitocin and in active labor when possible
- Postpartum nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5 to 6 stable mothers or 3 stable couplets
- Handles high-risk antenatal and perinatal patients with some tertiary level facility functions
- 12-hour shifts with 36 hours per week, flexible to day, night, or rotating shifts
- Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Opportunity to pick up extra shifts
- Collaborate with Maternal/Child manager, clinical supervisor, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient and family-centered care
- Coordinate and delegate unit and patient care activities as appropriate
- Department averages 65 deliveries per month
- Deliveries under 32 weeks gestation are transferred to another facility
- OR team handles C-sections
- Scrubs are provided for nurses working in the Maternal Child department
- Active WY or compact RN license required or eligibility for temporary WY license with clear background
- Minimum 2 years of recent hospital experience in both Labor & Delivery and Postpartum
- Current BLS from the American Heart Association, NRP, and Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring certifications required prior to consideration
- Experience with Pitocin and/or magnesium drips required
- Substantial experience managing high-risk antenatal/perinatal patients in a tertiary-level setting preferred
