American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) telemetry position requiring a NM or compact license, night shifts, and recent travel assignment experience.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital-based Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with telemetry monitoring
- Unit typically consists of 18 or more beds
- Patient population consists of adults requiring progressive or intermediate level care
- Requires use of Epic EMR; experience preferred
- 12-hour night shifts with weekends and call as needed
- Floating between departments and nearby locations within 20 miles is required
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
- Coordinate patient care by collaborating with patients, families, and the healthcare team
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and document according to policy
- Supervise LPNs and non-licensed assistive personnel
- Must pass onsite Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia test on the first day of orientation, with one opportunity to retest if needed
- Holiday, weekend, and call coverage may be required based on unit needs
- Active NM or compact state RN license
- Minimum of two years current experience in an 18+ bed telemetry or progressive care unit
- Must have successfully completed at least one prior 13-week travel assignment
- Associate degree in Nursing (ADN or ASN) required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA, American Health & Safety, or American Red Cross
- Must provide or pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) assessment prior to, or during, the first week of assignment; failure to pass after a re-test will result in dismissal
- Preferred: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- Former permanent staff must wait one year before being eligible as a traveler
