American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring position requiring Level 1 trauma experience and an AZ or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in the Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit within an acute care hospital setting
- 48-bed unit including 10 epilepsy specialty rooms, caring for epilepsy, brain tumor, subdural hematoma, scoliosis surgery, TBI, and neurological diagnosis patients
- Patient ratios are 1:4 for both days and nights
- Requires telemetry and some Med/Surg care; BiPAP managed by RT
- 12-hour night shifts, with a weekend requirement of 3 shifts every 4 weeks and participation in holiday rotation
- Staffing includes charge RN (no assignment), resource RN, PCTs, and 24/7 RT and pharmacy support
- Floating may be required to Med/Surg and Telemetry units
- Uses Cerner EMR and experience is preferred
- Candidates must demonstrate strong critical thinking, assessment, and the ability to detect subtle patient changes
- Training provided to assess cranial nerves and utilize self-releasing velcro seat belts
- First day orientation includes simulation lab and floor-based orientation shifts
- SIMs Lab is strictly pass/fail and includes maintaining sterile field during procedures
- Men must be clean shaven for fit testing, and all staff must have natural hair color and no facial piercings
- Required to wear Greys Anatomy steel-colored scrubs
- Holiday coverage is assigned per unit needs
- Travelers must have their own vehicle for transportation
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; no pending licenses accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience and recent Level 1 trauma experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to offer, with up to 2 attempts
- Must successfully complete a pass/fail SIMs Lab covering sterile Foley insertion and central line dressing changes on day 1 of orientation
- Driver’s license must show permanent residence at least 50 miles from facility
- Two professional references, including one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years, required for consideration
- Cannot have been directly employed by facilities associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
