The Ultrasound Technician operates ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic exams and invasive procedures across all patient age groups, ensuring adherence to clinical standards. They must possess knowledge of anatomy, pathology, and effective communication skills with medical staff. Certification by ARDMS or related registries is required within six months of employment, with additional BLS certification preferred.
Overview:

Responsibilities: Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices. Provides patient services utilizing ultrasound equipment. Demonstrates knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and pathology. Provides patient care to all age groups to include neonatal, pediatrics, adult, and geriatrics. Communicates effectively with staff and radiologists. Qualifications:MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an Ultrasound program that is accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or AART American Registry of Radiological Technologist.

None.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
None – Must become registered by the ARDMS within (6) months of employment. Vascular Sonographers must become registered and/or RVT, RVS, RT(S), RT(VS) within (6) months of employment. Licensure requirement for Breast Ultrasound can be met with registration through ARRT (BS).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
BLS certified. One (1) year of experience is preferred. Registered ARDMS and/or RVS/RVT (Registered Vascular Specialist) is desired.
