American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring at least one year of experience and an active SC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a 21-bed general medical/surgical unit within a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet Hospital
- Main patient population includes adults with gastrointestinal diagnoses, bariatric, and autologous islet cell programs
- Medical services include hospitalist, hepatology, and GI surgery (pancreobiliary, bariatric, surgical oncology)
- Uses Epic EMR for charting
- Night shift schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
- Float within scope to like units as needed
- Patient ratios are typically 1:6
- Provides complex nursing care for patients with multiple GI diagnoses under a modified modular nursing model
- Shift includes holiday rotation as needed by unit
- First-time travelers are accepted for this position
- Block scheduling requests require manager approval and depend on unit needs
- Applicants who were previously permanent or PRN staff must have a 1-year separation from the system before returning as a traveler
- RTO of 7 days or less (non-holiday) is preferred for automatic offer; longer or holiday time off requires facility approval
- Solid royal blue or white top with royal blue bottoms required for scrubs
- Modules (~4 hours) must be completed pre-start
- During hurricane season (June-Nov), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
- Local candidates within 60 miles may be accepted at a reduced rate, subject to approval
- Active SC or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
- Current AHA BLS certification required
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Must be 17 years or older to provide care to the patient population
- Social Security Number and Driver’s License required for consideration
