A Gastroenterology Physician evaluates and treats patients in both hospital and ambulatory clinic settings, specializing in performing advanced endoscopic procedures such as ERCP and EUS. The role includes managing outpatient cases, inpatient consultations, and interpreting diagnostic procedures supported by clinical staff. Physicians share on-call duties and utilize EMR systems like CERNER to coordinate patient care within a multidisciplinary medical team.
Schedule/Availability Requirements:
- clinic and call
- (5) 8-hour days with an average of 2 endoscopy days, 3 half endoscopy days and 3 half office days
- call will be shared each month between 3 physicians
Setting: Hospital and Office
Duties: Evaluate and treat patients in ambulatory clinic settings. Perform Endoscopy procedures during scheduled block time and also while on call.
Required Procedures: ERCP and EUS
- Office offers esophageal manometry/video capsule endoscopy/Fibroscan - these are performed by clinical staff and interpreted by physicians
EMR: CERNER
Support Staff: Medical receptionist, Surgery scheduler, Medical Assistants, Registered Nurse
Deal Breakers: NO ERCP/EUS , unable to offer at least one week (7days) monthly.
Cases:
- EUS/ERCP trained
- Average Cases/Day: Average of 15 outpatient cases on full Endoscopy days and 8 outpatient cases on half days
- Office Patients: 8-10 patients 2-3 days/week
- Inpatients: Fluctuates depending on call days
- Patient Population: Anything from complex IBD and Liver patients to screening for colorectal cancers. A wide range of patients and cases.
