The Paramedic in the Emergency Department provides age-appropriate, culturally sensitive care under the supervision of nurses and physicians, assisting with patient assessment, education, and advocacy. They participate in delivering healthcare services, maintain a safe environment, and oversee unlicensed personnel while utilizing applicable certifications and technology. This role requires experience in high-volume 911 emergency response and multiple paramedic certifications including BLS, ALS/ACLS, and PALS.
Location: Piedmont Fayette Hospital
Shift: 7a-7p; Weekends & Holidays Required

Responsibilities:The Paramedic, under the supervision of the Professional Registered Nurse and/or Physician is responsible for facilitating age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and their families, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology. The Paramedic participates in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of health care services and task. The role of the Paramedic Nurse Extender also, includes patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and the oversight of unlicensed personnel.
Qualifications:Education
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
Work Experience
- 1 year of experience as a Paramedic with high volume 911 experience.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Georgia , National Registry Preferred
- BLS Certification Required
Additional Licenses and Certifications
- ALS/ACLS and PALS (Paramedics new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date) Required
- Experienced Emergency Department Paramedics will have 6 months to obtain the PALS certification Required
