Assistant Safety Manager

Lead safety culture for a growing construction and industrial portfolio with autonomy and hands-on impact. Assistant Safety Manager; full-time, on-site support to Safety Manager across Sheetz construction/general industry operations; permanent role based in company locations; standard business schedule with field visits. - Bachelor's in Safety Science or Safety Engineering (required) - Minimum 3 years' safety experience in construction and general industry (required) - Valid Driver’s License (required) - Ability to work independently and perform industrial hygiene sampling - Experience with incident/near-miss investigations and compliance tracking

Overview:

Support the safety initiatives of the Safety Manager.  The position requires the ability to recognize, evaluate and eliminate/control all industrial/construction risks through technical knowledge and expertise, while at the same time promoting a positive safety culture. This individual will have to be highly motivated, able to work without onsite supervision and have the ability to work closely with other members of the Sheetz Team.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop, implement and maintain safety programs for responsible business unit(s)
2. Develop, schedule, perform, document, maintain and track safety training for responsible business unit(s)
3. Effectively communicate with Sheetz employees and contractors to instill a proactive safety culture
4. Lead and perform presentations in safety committees/meetings
5. Develop and implement safety observation programs
6. Assist in maintaining compliance registers and logs
7. Develop, implement and maintain near miss/incident investigation programs for responsible business unit(s)
8. Provide management with multiple compliance based solutions to resolve safety issues
9. Coordinate and/or perform industrial hygiene sampling
10. Participate in all applicable insurance and regulatory inspections, and assist in closure

Qualifications:

(Equivalent combinations of education, licenses, certifications and/or experience may be considered)

 

 

Education

• Bachelor's degree in safety science or safety engineering is required 

Experience

• Minimum 3 years’ safety experience in construction and general industry required 

Licenses/Certifications

• Valid Driver’s License
