We have an immediate need for a skilled Pediatric Physician to provide locum tenens coverage in a healthcare facility near Brookneal, VA. This short-term assignment offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience while working with a supportive team in an inpatient setting.

Assignment Highlights:

• Assignment Duration: October 31, 2024 - November 5, 2024
• Coverage Type: Call-only, with 24-hour shifts (7 AM - 7 AM)
• Practice Setting: Inpatient (No outpatient requirement)
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Systems: Athena & Meditech
• Privileges: Temporary privileges available for immediate start, with credentialing approximately 60 days if required

Responsibilities:

• Provide 24-hour call coverage, addressing patient needs as they arise
• Attend all newborn deliveries and assist with C-sections
• Perform consults in the emergency department as needed
• Facilitate patient transfers and admit patients to the pediatric unit

Facility and Support:

• Department Beds: 6
• Support Staff: 2 Registered Nurses (RNs) per shift; no supervision of advanced practice providers required
• On-Site Resources: Specialty skills in neonatal and pediatric ventilation management, sedation, central line insertion, and more as needed for comprehensive pediatric care

Requirements:

• Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics
• Licensure: Active Virginia license or Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) eligibility
• Certifications: PALS and NRP required; ACLS, ABLS, and ATLS not required
• Skills Required: Proficiency in various pediatric procedures, including:
  • Non-invasive and invasive ventilation management (newborn and pediatric)
  • Intubation (ETT/NT for newborn and pediatric patients)
  • Sedation (conscious and deep sedation)
  • Central line, arterial line, UVC, and UAC placements
  • Basic minor procedures such as lumbar punctures, chest tube insertion, and suturing
