This locum tenens position is for a board-certified or eligible psychiatrist specializing in traumatic brain injury (TBI) evaluations within VA clinic settings. The role involves conducting structured psychiatric interviews, mental status exams, and completing VA Disability Benefits Questionnaires for adult Veterans without prescribing or treatment responsibilities. Flexible scheduling and travel benefits are offered while providing vital neuropsychiatric assessments for Veterans’ disability claims.

Practice setting: VA Disability Exams (Clinic-based)
Types of procedures: Structured psychiatric interviews and mental status exams; evaluation of psychiatric, cognitive, and behavioral symptoms related to TBI; differentiation of TBI sequelae from other mental health conditions; review of medical and psychiatric records; completion of VA Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs)
Ages: Adult Veterans
Requirements: MD or DO with Psychiatry residency; Board Certified/Board Eligible in Psychiatry; active, unrestricted state medical license; experience evaluating TBI and neuropsychiatric conditions preferred; strong diagnostic and documentation skills; compassionate, Veteran-centered approach
Additional information: Evaluation-only visits; no call, no treatment, no prescribing; structured reporting through VA contractor systems; meaningful work serving U.S. Veterans.
