Position Overview: Start Date: January 6, 2025 Assignment Duration: January 6 - January 17, 2025, with potential for ongoing dates into February and beyond, two weeks per month Specialty Needed: Gastroenterology (Internal Medicine) Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours Plus Call Practice Setting: Both outpatient and inpatient services required Location: Near Bristol, VA Work Schedule: Clinic Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call Coverage: Night call is required, with a 30-minute response time On-call Details: Expect around 2-3 phone consults and up to 1-2 patient calls per 24-hour period Patient Load and Support: Patients Per Shift: Approximately 20 Call Ratio: 1:1 Support Team: Includes RN (2), MA (1), PA/NP (1), and office staff (2) Procedures and Skills Required: Upper GI endoscopy: Diagnostic and therapeutic, including foreign body removal, cauterization, injection of varices, and PEG insertion ERCP: Both diagnostic and therapeutic Lower GI endoscopy: Includes sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, polyp excision, and liver biopsy Other Gastroenterology Skills: Esophageal manometry, small bowel biopsy, and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) Facility Highlights: Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Athena & Meditech Temporary Privileges: Available for quicker onboarding Stroke Certification: The facility holds stroke certification for high-quality care Qualifications: Board Certification: Board-eligible in Gastroenterology preferred Licensing Requirements: No specific state license required for bidding, though a clean practice history is preferred due to credentialing timelines Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 30 days Additional Benefits: Insurance: Provided by vendor Travel Assistance: Close to Tri-City Airport in Blountville, TN, with nearby lodging options for convenience If you re a qualified Gastroenterologist interested in this rewarding locums role, apply now using Job ID .
