Job Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for night shifts in a regional hospital setting, requiring NC or compact RN license and strong Med/Tele experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 35-bed Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital designated as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center
• Patient population includes stroke, CHF, COPD, respiratory illnesses, diabetes, post-surgical, and behavioral health cases
• RN patient ratios range from 1:5-6, with possible increase to 1:7-8 based on acuity
• Night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am
• Every other weekend required
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• Floating required within the region to Med/Tele, ICU, PCU, and ED as needed and within scope of practice
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV Pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Phillips monitors, and Masimo equipment
• No call or call back required for travelers
• Strong focus on teamwork within the unit
• Receptionist/HUC and IV/VAT Team available on day shift only
• 24/7 support from RT, hospitalists, and intensivists
• Telemetry monitoring tech available on unit; RN reads own tele strips when floated to other units
• Departmental orientation includes three days at facility
• Navy scrubs required
• Free parking provided
• First-time travelers will be considered but are not preferred
• Up to 6 days of RTO can be approved, excluding holidays; missed hours must be added to contract
• Schedule is created on a 4-week cycle

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency in post-op care, orthopedic experience, TPN, PPN, stroke assessments, chest tube management, IV starts, trach care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, NGT placement, drain/tube management, PCA pump use, wound care, cardiac drip management (Diltiazem), heparin, blood products, and IVF
• Experience with EPIC EMR and telemetry monitoring preferred
• Applicant’s permanent address must be at least 50 miles from unit
