Coverage Type: This role involves call-only coverage, focusing on handling admissions and consultations for unassigned or Emergency Department (ED) patients. Admissions: Admissions are required, providing the opportunity to manage a diverse range of surgical cases. Patient Load: Expect to handle approximately 4 patients per shift, focusing on acute surgical care. Call Details: This is a 24-hour shift from 7 am to 7 am the next day. General Surgeons will be covering their own patients, and this coverage is specifically for unassigned or ED patients. Call Type: You will receive calls via beeper for unassigned ED patients and may need to consult on inpatients as necessary. Consultation: While fully supported by hospitalist and ICU attending coverage, you may need to consult on inpatients when required. Additional Details: Surgical Scope: This position involves surgery only, without endoscopy procedures. License Requirement: A valid Massachusetts medical license is required for consideration.
