American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardio Thoracic ICU position, requiring a VA or compact RN license and strong neuro and cardiac critical care skills.
Responsibilities- Work in the Cardio Thoracic ICU of a hospital with an 8-bed unit
- Provides care to post-operative CABG, acute cardiac, and stepdown patients using a universal bed model
- Patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:2
- Night shift schedule (3x12 hour shifts, 19:00-7:30), weekends and holidays required
- Floating within the hospital required
- Uses Epic EMR; Epic proficiency required
- Care involves use of advanced equipment including FloTrac/Vigileo, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Impella, Hemosphere, Quantum, and Accuryn
- Will provide nursing care for complex cardiac and stepdown patients, including those post-cardiac surgery and neuro patients
- Responsible for advanced procedures such as arterial and central line management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, CVVHD/CRRT, ventilator management, and wound care
- Support provided by the multidisciplinary ICU team
- Pre-employment modules (3 hours, billable) must be completed before start
- Fit testing required and must be passed; no exceptions for PAPR
- Required to work some holidays and every other weekend during contract
- RTO must be submitted and is subject to approval on a case-by-case basis
- Cannot accommodate block scheduling
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active VA or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- No prior license or background hits accepted
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in CVICU/CTICU nursing
- Current BLS, ACLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications required
- Strong neuro experience, including post-brain surgery and EVD/ventriculostomy required
- Epic EMR proficiency required
- Must pass EKG test (≥80%); only one attempt permitted
- No PAPR accommodation available; must successfully complete facility fit testing
- Drivers License must be provided for address verification
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
