Job Description
American Traveler seeks an experienced RN for an ICU position providing advanced cardiovascular care on night shifts in Michigan, requiring a current MI license and strong EKG skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVU) of a hospital
- Care for cardiology patients including post-PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, bi-ventricular pacemakers, open heart surgery, congestive heart failure, and electrophysiology cases
- Unit cares for over 4000 cardiology patients annually and approximately 300 open heart surgery patients
- Research studies occur in collaboration with the NISUS research department
- 12-hour night shifts
- Required to work every other weekend
- Possible on-call requirement
- Floating to similar units is required
- Provide high-acuity care to a diverse cardiac and post-surgical patient population
- Strict attendance policy: more than three late arrivals or absences leads to immediate termination, with exceptions for certain medical circumstances
- Team collaborates closely with leadership, medical staff, and research teams
- Unit has been recognized with national awards for clinical excellence
- No more than five days of requested time off allowed during contract
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required at the time of consideration
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
- Minimum of 1 year ICU experience not including time spent floating
- Comfort with EKG is required
- Experience with vents, CRRT, and balloon pumps preferred
- Experience in neuro, CVICU, or trauma ICU preferred
- Skills checklist for RN specialty completed within one year is required
- Former full-time McLaren employees must wait six months after employment to be eligible
