American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute care setting, requiring a current CA RN license and advanced fetal monitoring certification.
Responsibilities- Work in Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units within an acute care hospital environment
- Unit includes 14 L&D beds, 6 triage beds, 2 OR suites, and 28 postpartum beds
- Care for a variety of patients including any gestational age, antepartum, high-risk deliveries, substance abuse, pre-eclampsia, and insulin-dependent diabetics
- Patient ratios are 2:1 for laboring patients and 1:4 for couplet care, following AWHONN guidelines
- Circulating for C-sections is required; scrubbing experience preferred
- Fetal monitoring with Fetal Link and telemetry with Phillips equipment
- Uses Cerner EMR; prior Cerner experience is preferred
- 12-hour night shifts from 7p-7a, with every other weekend required
- Float to postpartum is required but postpartum staff do not float to L&D
- No on-call obligations, though standby may be needed
- Will work collaboratively with a team including charge nurses, OB techs, nurse aides, RT and pharmacy staff
- Follows a holiday rotation schedule shared with permanent staff
- Scrub colors are seal blue for L&D nurses and provided by the facility
- Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia and sterile technique exams if in the Sacramento, CA region
- Returning employees must not have been employed by affiliated health systems (CommonSpirit/CHI/Dignity) in the past year unless PRN through outside firms
- First time travelers will be considered for this position
- Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience required
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWOHNN Advanced)
- COVID-19 vaccination required
- Ability to provide 2 professional references: one supervisor reference from within the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from within the past 3 years
- Experience circulating for C-sections required; scrubbing for C-sections is preferred
- Must provide a copy of Driver's License
- Successful completion of floor-specific orientation and required in-house competency tests
