American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Neuro unit in Illinois with an active IL license, BLS, and NIHSS certification required.
Responsibilities- Work in the Med/Surg Neuro unit of an acute care hospital
- Night shifts available as 4x12 or 3x12-hour shifts (18:00-06:30)
- Patient census averages 32 per day with a neurological and medical-surgical focus
- Patient populations include CVA, pre/post neuro surgery, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injury cases
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call duties required
- Floating within scope to other units as needed
- Royal blue scrubs required
- Uses Cerner EMR system; Cerner experience required
- Level II Trauma Center
- Provide comprehensive care for neurological and medical-surgical patients
- Role includes managing complex cases involving neuro, cardiac, GI, respiratory, wound, and medication therapies
- Work in a teaching and Level II trauma hospital environment
- Collaborate with Rapid Response Teams for emergency interventions
- Royal blue scrubs required for all shifts
- Parking permit provided at no cost; process completed during orientation
- Ideally, no more than 5 days of requested time off will be accommodated
- Local candidates accepted; no radius restrictions
- Active IL RN license required at time of application
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
- Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
- Telemetry and remote cardiac monitoring experience required
- Skills in rapid response, colostomy and feeding tube care, IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line and PICC management, blood product administration, and surgical drain management required
- Medication administration experience required for heparin, insulin, and PCA
- Experience with respiratory interventions including chest tubes, tracheostomy care, CPAP/BiPAP, and noninvasive airway management required
- Continuous bladder irrigation experience required
- Wound care and wound vac skills required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Teaching hospital and Level II trauma experience preferred
- First-time travelers not accepted
