Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Board Certified OB/GYN Hospitalist Physicians for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity in Seaford, Delaware. This program supports a 99-bed acute care hospital with a full-service women’s health program, steady delivery volume, and comprehensive inpatient obstetric and gynecologic responsibilities.
This is a high-impact, full-scope OB hospitalist role ideal for physicians experienced in obstetric emergency response, unassigned patient management, and inpatient OB/GYN care.
Assignment Snapshot

- Beds: 99-bed hospital

- Credentialing: ~90 days | Temp privileges available
- Day Coverage: 1 OB Hospitalist
- Night Coverage: 1 OB Hospitalist
- NICU: Level I
- Backup Resources: Community OB/GYN physicians; no in-house C-section assist requirement
- Projected Annual Deliveries: ~690
- Annual OB ED Visits: ~589
- Annual Surgical Volume: 4–5 procedures/month
The OB Hospitalist will provide 100% inpatient obstetric and gynecologic coverage, including:
OB Responsibilities
- 24-hour in-house presence required
- Manage unassigned laboring patients & OB ED presentations
- Handle obstetric emergencies including PPH, shoulder dystocia, eclampsia, etc.
- Provide coverage for private-practice patients when requested
- Perform antepartum, postpartum, and daily rounds on OB Hospitalist service patients
- Assist with C-sections as needed
- No newborn circumcisions required
- Evaluate & manage unassigned GYN ED presentations
- Perform emergent GYN procedures as indicated (ruptured ectopic, ovarian torsion, retained products, etc.)
- Respond to GYN consults (avg ~5/month)
- Provide follow-up visits in the hospital-sponsored clinic (1–2 days/week as needed)
- Must possess current laparoscopy skills
- Participate in nursing drills, simulations, and high-risk OB safety initiatives
- Collaborate with and support residents (OB/GYN or FM) when present
- Work collegially with L&D staff, anesthesia, NICU, and community providers
- Board Certified OB/GYN (required)
- Minimum 2–3 years of active practice experience
- Active & unrestricted Delaware medical license (or ability to obtain)
- Comfortable with high-risk obstetrics & emergency GYN surgery
- Strong team collaboration and teaching mindset
- Must remain in-house for entire 24-hour shift
- Clean background preferred for temp privileges
- High autonomy in a well-structured OB hospitalist program
