We are seeking a Critical Care Medicine Physician Assistant for a 36-day locum tenens assignment in Maryland. This full-time night position starts on Jan 26, 2026, with 13-hour shifts from 6PM to 6AM plus sign-out, providing post-operative cardiac ICU care in a collaborative environment.

- Schedule: Nights, 6PM-6AM + 1-hour sign-out; full-time, 3 shifts per week; minimum 18 shifts per 6-week schedule; maximum 5 consecutive shifts
Responsibilities and Duties
- Deliver post-operative care for transplant, ECMO, LVAD, bypass, and surgical patients in a CVS-ICU setting
- Perform invasive procedures including central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube removal, and pacer wire removal
- Manage 4-6 patients per night, approximately 4 patients per provider, within an ICU
- Collaborate with at least one other APP during shifts, ideally as part of a three-APP night team
- Provide care exclusively in the ICU; no operating room responsibilities
- Conduct sign-out and shift transitions as part of each 13-hour shift
- Utilize Epic EMR for documentation
Additional Information
- Active Maryland license required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
- Board certification in Critical Care Medicine preferred
- Acute care training required for nurse practitioners (when applicable)
- No call required
