A locum tenens Cardiothoracic Surgeon is needed to provide backup coverage for hospital CT Surgery in Cumberland, Maryland, typically covering 24-hour or 12-hour shifts with 7 shifts per month. The role requires Board Certification or Eligibility in Cardiac or both Cardiac and Thoracic surgery, with at least two years of experience, performing procedures such as bypass surgery and managing 1-3 admissions while on call. The surgeon collaborates with physician assistants who handle consults and routine calls, responding within 30 minutes for urgent or emergent cases at a Level III trauma facility.

Looking for 1-2 providers as a backup for hospital CT Surgery. Coverage for one week or a long weekend each month.
Level III Trauma
Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiac or both Cardiac and Thoracic - Must have minimum 2 years of experience.
Required Procedures: Bypass Surgery

Start: Thursday July 17
Schedule: 24hr call 7a-7a or 12hr call 7a-7p
Estimated Shifts/Month: 7
Privileges Available: Temp Privileges
EMR / Charting: Meditech
Types of Calls: 30min Response

Average admission while on call: 1-3
Candidates Typical Day:
Rounding with PA in a.m. and perform any necessary procedures that may come
throughout the day. Physician assistant takes the calls and the surgeon is only contacted if
there is an urgent or emergent issues.
Will Candidate Work Solo?: Yes
On Call?: Yes
Average Admissions While On Call: 3
Rounding: TBD
PAs do the can do Endovascular Saphenous Vein Harvesting (EVH)
Trauma Level Designation: Level III
Consults are taken by PA and then discussed via phone with Physician to determine next
steps.
Onsite not needed after rounding - 30 min response time
APP/Mid-level coverage is available
APP/Mid-level shifts times 7a-7a
Average admission while on call: 1-3
AVG Cases per Day: 1-3 or 133 a year
Typical Cases Seen:Open Heart, Carotid and possibly lung cases.
