American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring at least 2 years of cardiac experience, BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Responsibilities- Position is based on a Cardiac Telemetry unit with a patient population that includes post-MI, post-cath, and a variety of cardiac and vascular diagnoses
- Worknight shift, 3x12 hours (18:45–07:15), 36 hours per week
- Ratios are 1:4 for surgical stepdown and 1:5-6 for lower acuity patients, varying by acuity
- Common procedures include CABG, TAVR, Mitral Clip, electrophysiology procedures, and pacemaker placements
- Special equipment in use includes Doppler, bladder scanner, EKG, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, and epicardial pacing wires
- Utilizes Epic for documentation, Pyxis for medication management, and SBAR for communication
- Floating may occur within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals based on skill set and census
- Expected to work four weekend shifts per four-week period, with flexibility
- Will follow unit rotation for floating; travelers are not the first to float
- Expected to participate as part of a Storm or Hurricane Team and may be reassigned to other units as needed during emergencies
- Role includes pre- and post-cardiac cath care, cardiac drip management (titration and no titration), and managing interventions for a wide range of complex cardiac conditions
- Orientation consists of a 24-hour program
- Navy scrubs are required as dress code
- Holiday coverage is required; candidates must be able to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- No RTO is allowed during the first week of the assignment, and any RTO after booking is not permitted onsite
- Travel pairs are allowed but must be assigned to different units
- Fatigue policy prohibits working more than 5 consecutive days or more than 60 hours per week
- Pre-employment modules must be completed prior to the start of the assignment
- All candidates must be available for an interview prior to offer
- First-time travelers are considered only if they meet the required cardiac experience
- Active NC or compact RN license; license must be in hand at the time of start
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience on a cardiac floor required
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications are required
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Epic charting experience required
- Proficiency with cardiac telemetry, stepdown care, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drip management, and non-invasive airway management
- Ability to manage common cardiac and vascular patient populations as outlined
- References from two managers or supervisors from the past 12 months are highly preferred and required for employment consideration
- No prior permanent, PRN, or EP employment with the same health system within the past 12 months; current travel Per Diem clinicians are ineligible for a travel contract
