Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit within a hospital setting
• 10-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients
• Patient ratio is RN: 1:5, CNA: 1:10
• Typical diagnoses include chest pain, syncope, and angina
• Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing systems
• 12-hour shifts (day: 0700-1900; night also available)
• Every other weekend required
• Travelers are required to float within the regional facilities and within their scope of practice
• No on-call responsibilities
• Travelers must work 75% of holidays
• Unit supports a team environment with supervisors, charge RNs, resource RNs for admissions and discharges, and access to RT and hospitalist teams
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days on the department
• Support available from IV/VAT team and shared phlebotomy duties
• Scrub color requirement is navy
• First-time travelers will be considered, but are not preferred
• Up to 6 days of requested time off (excluding holidays) may be approved; additional time off extends the contract

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license
• Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele RN experience
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications; NIHSS required for Resource Team
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms, perform trach care, start and maintain PIVs, manage chest tubes, place and manage NGT, manage various drains, and use PCA pumps
• Experience with medication gtt management including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids
• Must live at least 50 miles from the unit’s location
