EMT Paramedic | Breckenridge, MN | Contract
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Paramedic (EMT-P) for a unique pre-hospital emergency care opportunity in Breckenridge. This role focuses strictly on 911 response and interfacility transfers—no ER responsibilities—making it ideal for paramedics who thrive in field-based emergency care.
Position Details
- Title: EMT Paramedic
- Location: Breckenridge 56520-1025
- Schedule:
- 24 hrs on → 24 hrs on-call (10-min response time)
- 24 hrs on → 24 hrs on-call → 96 hrs off
- (Subject to change with 30-day notice)
- Employment Type: Contract
- Department: EMS / Paramedic Unit
- Patient Volume: ~1700 runs/year (~4–5 per day)
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ALS-level emergency care in pre-hospital settings
- Respond to 911 calls and interfacility transfers
- Perform patient assessments and deliver appropriate interventions
- Administer medications following the 5 Rights of Medication Administration
- Manage emergencies such as:
- Trauma
- Chest pain
- Respiratory distress
- Falls & abdominal pain
- Operate and manage equipment including:
- CPAP, BiPAP, Ventilators
- Supervise EMTs and ensure scene safety
- Communicate effectively during patient handoffs and transfers of care
- Document all patient care accurately and timely
Requirements
- Active Paramedic License (MN required)
- NREMT-P Certification – Required
- ACLS, BLS, PALS (AHA) – Required
- Must have either North Dakota (ND) license OR Compact License with Privilege to Practice, in addition to MN license
- Strong ALS experience required
- Intubation experience preferred
Clinical Skills
- Drip management including:
- Nitroglycerin
- Heparin
- IV fluids
- Vasopressors
- Ability to handle high-risk and rapidly changing patient conditions
- Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills in field settings
Work Environment
- No ER responsibilities – strictly field-based EMS work
- Work alongside ambulance teams and volunteer squads
- Report to Ambulance Supervisor & VP of Patient Care
- No floating required
Scheduling & Policies
- Weekend & Holiday Requirement: As per rotation
- On-Call Requirement: Yes (10-minute response time)
- Dress Code: Navy/Black pants with department-issued shirt
- Orientation: 1 full rotation (48 hrs active + 48 hrs on-call)
