• The Emergency Department is a 62-bed unit, including resuscitation rooms, fast-track areas, and specialized spaces for trauma, cardiac emergencies, and stroke.

Job Summary

The Emergency Department Manager (RN) is responsible for overseeing nursing operations during the PM shift in our fast-paced Emergency Department. This leadership role ensures high-quality care, compliance with regulatory standards, and operational efficiency to meet the needs of our patients, staff, and community.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations during the PM shift, including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and supervision to nursing staff to maintain clinical excellence.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with clinical protocols, policies, and regulatory standards.
• Serve as a liaison between staff, patients, families, and hospital leadership, ensuring effective communication.
• Identify and address operational or clinical issues promptly to enhance patient outcomes and staff satisfaction.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to the department’s strategic objectives.

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Licensure: Current RN license or eligibility to practice in the District of Columbia.
• Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of Emergency Department nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; TNCC and CEN preferred.
• Skills: Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
