Job DescriptionThe Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaboratively provides direct care, applies appropriate interventions, and evaluates patient progress.
Responsibilities- Conducts primary assessments to identify critical needs and documents deviations from norms.
- Connects with patients and families during triage and addresses comfort needs.
- Utilizes relationship-based care principles to alleviate anxiety and provide information.
- Teaches patients and families about continuing care and healing at home.
- Maintains awareness of the patient's condition throughout the emergency visit.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
- One year of acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse
