American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Labor & Delivery LDRP position requiring 2 years of LDRP experience and multi-certification including ACLS, BLS, NRP, and STABLE.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute care LDRP unit with 6 secure labor and delivery beds
- Care for laboring, postpartum, and well mother-baby couplets with up to 17 births per month
- 1 dedicated OR suite for C-sections on unit, RN serves as newborn nurse in C-sections
- Average of 2 RNs per shift following AWHONN staffing guidelines
- Uses EpicCare Inpatient EMR and Centricity EFM system
- Day shifts, 12 hours, self-scheduling, 3 shifts per week
- Weekend and holiday shifts equitably distributed among staff
- Floating only for helping hands or safety attendant tasks, no shifts in other departments
- Orientation includes facility day and two unit-specific 12-hour shifts
- Provide care to laboring and postpartum patients, including assessment and stabilization of newborns
- RNs are responsible for both mother and baby care for the first few hours post-delivery
- Participate in induction, hypertensive crisis, and hemorrhage protocols
- No twins or triplets; high-risk patients will be stabilized for transfer
- Surgical scrubs required for deliveries; own scrubs permitted otherwise
- Charge RN generally assigned from core staff, with house supervisor support available
- No nurse aides or surgical techs on unit at present
- OB on call after hours with 30-minute response time; pediatrician available weekdays and on call nights/weekends
- No blocked or special schedule requests accepted
- Permanent former employees must be away at least one year before considering a travel assignment
- Active ID or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent LDRP experience, with strong labor and some LDRP or postpartum experience in recent years
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NRP, STABLE
- Experience in newborn stabilization and managing laboring patients autonomously
- Comfortable titrating medications such as magnesium and pitocin
- Must provide two references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
- Valid driver’s license required
- Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius; local candidates not accepted
