American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a night shift assignment in a large, Level I Trauma, Magnet, academic medical center requiring recent 20+ bed ICU experience and valid MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities- Work in a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) within a large teaching and Magnet-recognized Level I Trauma Center
- Patient ratios are typically 1:2
- Unit consists of more than 20 beds with high acuity cases
- Handles critically ill adult patients requiring advanced ICU interventions such as pressor support, ETT, tracheostomy care, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and wound care
- Expected to perform and assist with procedures including line insertion, paracentesis, bedside trach placement, chest tubes, bronchoscopy, and phlebotomy using sterile technique
- Must care for patients on CRRT via NxStage equipment
- Night shift schedule: 3x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Every other weekend coverage required
- May float within ICU service line to MS areas as needed
- EPIC is used for charting and documentation
- No on-call responsibilities
- Responsibilities include managing critically ill adult patients, supporting advanced therapies, and performing specialty ICU procedures
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Team operates within a large, multidisciplinary teaching hospital
- Navy blue scrubs are required for all shifts
- Holiday coverage may be required as per unit policy
- Travelers may stay for up to 18 months with a mandatory 3-month break after 18 months
- Orientation and required modules are compensated up to 16 hours
- Parking is available with a monthly fee, details provided during orientation; night shift parking is complimentary
- Active MO or compact RN license required
- Minimum 1.5 years of ICU RN experience required, with preference for MICU
- If less than 2 years of ICU experience, Level I Trauma experience is required
- Experience in a 20+ bed ICU is mandatory
- Certifications required: ACLS and BLS (AHA)
- Must pass the Relias EKG exam with competency in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Competency with CRRT via NxStage required
- Prior EPIC charting experience preferred
- Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- RTO not to exceed 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO allowed during the first week of orientation
- Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
