Pediatrics - Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
Join our esteemed medical team as a Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine Specialist in a Level 3 community NICU, providing exceptional care to up to 14 critically ill newborns. This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment with dedicated 24-hour coverage and a collaborative team, including nurse practitioners. Your expertise will directly impact the health and well-being of our tiniest patients, making a meaningful difference in their lives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized neonatal care to up to 14 patients in a Level 3 NICU setting.
- Work one week per month, with 24-hour shifts encompassing patient contact, call coverage, and on-call availability.
- Collaborate with nurse practitioners who provide 24-hour support and supervision.
- Adhere to hospital protocols and ensure the highest standards of neonatal care.
Required Skills:
- Board certification or eligibility in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
- Valid medical license and current credentials to practice in the designated state.
- Proven experience in neonatal intensive care, especially in high-acuity settings.
- Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Previous experience working in community NICUs.
- Knowledge of neonatal resuscitation and advanced life support protocols.
- Experience with multidisciplinary team collaboration.
- Ability to adapt to variable shift schedules and high-pressure situations.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
- Completion of a Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship.
- At least 2 years of NICU clinical experience.
- Prior locums or temporary staffing experience is advantageous.
Other Requirements:
- Availability to work one week per month, including nights and weekends.
- Supervision of nurse practitioners as required.
- Willingness to participate in occasional on-call duties.
- Ability to provide a flat rate compensation that includes 8 hours of patient contact, with additional fee for return visits outside this period.
