This position is for an Emergency Medicine Physician providing comprehensive emergency care including diagnosis, treatment, and critical procedures in a hospital emergency department. The physician is responsible for patient evaluation, stabilization, performing minor and major emergency procedures, and coordinating care with other clinical staff. Administrative duties include documentation, quality assurance, attending meetings, and following safety protocols within a 24/7 operational schedule including holidays.

• Day shifts: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM, 8:00 AM 8:00 PM, 9:00 AM 9:00 PM, 10:00 AM 10:00 PM, 12:00 PM 8:00 PM
• Night shift: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
Schedule: Coverage required Wednesday through Tuesday, including holidays.
Job Responsibilities
Scope of Care / Duties
• Direct Patient Care (Approx. 95% of time):
• Provide comprehensive emergency care including evaluation, treatment, resuscitation, stabilization, triage, diagnosis, and disposition.
• Manage minor to major procedures, including:
• Local anesthesia, incision & drainage, laceration repair, nail trephination, nasal cautery, gastric lavage, bladder catheterization, peripheral IV insertion, spinal immobilization.
• Abdominal, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, hematologic, endocrine, metabolic, head/neck, eye, musculoskeletal, nervous system, psychiatric, respiratory, renal/urologic, OB/GYN disorders.
• Major emergency procedures such as central lines, chest tubes, defibrillation, cardioversion, intubation, lumbar puncture, fracture reduction, sedation, temporary pacemaker placement, and cricothyroidotomy.
• Review and hand off inpatient admissions recommended by Advanced Practice Providers.
• Provide consultations, referrals, and guidance to referring clinicians.
• Initiate social work referrals for homeless or high-risk patients.
• Apply or supervise orthopedic devices (splints, braces).
• Follow medication policies; no sample medications provided.
• Provide discharge education and follow-up instructions.
Administrative / Other Duties (Approx. 5% of time):
Attend staff meetings as required.
• Complete quality assurance and performance improvement documentation.
• Document all patient care in the electronic health record (EHR) and ensure appropriate coding for services provided.
• Follow patient safety and infection control standards; report incidents and adverse events promptly.
• Address patient/customer service issues in coordination with supervisory staff.
Hours / Scheduling
The Emergency Department operates 24/7, including holidays.
• Shift schedules may vary; physicians must be available to work during all hours of operation or as required by leadership.
• Timely patient evaluation and consult completion are required.
Licensing Requirements:
• All physicians must hold full and unrestricted licenses. Physicians with any history of restrictions, suspension, revocation, voluntary surrender, or denial are not eligible.
Qualifications:
• Current license to practice medicine in any U.S. state, territory, or district where services are performed.
• Board Certified/Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine.
• Degree in Medicine (MD/DO).
• Copies of ACLS/BLS Certifications.
• Documentation of board certification or board eligibility.
• DEA registration.
• National Provider Identifier (NPI).
• List of procedures performed in the past two years.
• Health record documentation as required.
