- Every other weekend
- Every other holiday
- No call requirement
Floating
- Candidate will float to Postpartum as needed
- May be required to provide coverage for Mother/Baby and Labor & Delivery
Required Experience
- Must have experience attending deliveries
- Previous experience in special care or nursery nursing preferred
The Registered Nurse provides comprehensive, safe, and developmentally appropriate nursing care to neonates during high-risk deliveries and in a Level II Nursery. Care is delivered in accordance with nursing standards, regulatory requirements, and professional practice guidelines. The RN is accountable for the quality and safety of both direct and indirect patient care provided.
This role maintains line responsibility to the Director of Obstetrical Nursing or designee and collaborates closely with interdisciplinary team members to meet patient and family needs.
Essential Job Functions- Provides age-appropriate assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care
- Develops, implements, evaluates, and modifies individualized plans of care for patients and families
- Manages and supervises nursing practice, including appropriate delegation to unlicensed assistive personnel
- Participates in required in-services, continuing education, and competency programs
- Contributes to unit and hospital-based quality improvement initiatives
- Maintains effective communication with interdisciplinary care team members
- Provides patient and family education as appropriate
- Coordinates care across multiple disciplines to meet established care goals
- Documents care, assessments, and evaluations in accordance with policy
- Maintains attendance and compliance with mandatory safety and emergency training
- Supports staff development through mentoring, precepting, and collegial collaboration
- Performs job-specific duties related to the assigned clinical area
Experience
- Prior experience in special care nursing of newborns preferred
Licensure & Certifications
- Active Massachusetts RN license required
- BLS (Healthcare Provider) required
- NRP required
