American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a current CA license and Cerner EMR proficiency for a night shift contract.
Responsibilities- Work in a 32-bed ICU (licensed for 40) within an acute care setting
- Unit set up in pods of 8 beds with a 2:1 patient ratio
- Nurses are responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips
- Manage ICU-level cases including neuro, cardiac, post-PCI, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, stroke, TBI, and devices such as Ventrics and Camino ICP monitors
- Perform advanced skills including administering pressors, antiarrhythmics, sedation, and managing ventilators
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
- Floating required to Tele and any ED ICU/Tele holds as needed
- Cerner EMR experience required
- Navy blue scrubs required for RNs
- RNs are supported by a charge nurse (no patient assignment), a resource RN, and nurse aides (days only)
- Hospitalist or intensivist coverage, with 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy available
- Orientation includes ICU educator and preceptor-supported shifts
- Rotational holiday coverage required
- No acrylic nails or gel polish allowed during assignment
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Active CA RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU RN experience required, 3 years preferred
- Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; CCRN preferred
- Cerner EMR proficiency required
- Two references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
- Copies of all required certifications and a valid driver’s license must be provided for consideration
- No previous direct employment (within the last year) at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility
