Gastroenterology Physician Opportunity in Lufkin, TX
Summary: Our medical facility in Lufkin, TX is seeking a skilled Gastroenterology specialist with ERCP capabilities. This is an inpatient-only position with no outpatient work. The role involves managing in-house consultations and procedures based on those consultations. The practice boasts a supportive environment suited for delivering high-quality patient care.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct inpatient consultations and manage gastroenterological cases.
- Perform normal GI procedures, including endoscopies and colonoscopies, with an emphasis on ERCP.
- Handle patient admissions and coordinate care with nursing staff.
- Participate in rounding on up to 10 patients per day.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists for procedures requiring sedation.
- Maintain thorough documentation in the electronic medical record system (currently using Paragon, transitioning to EPIC).
- Provide coverage during weekends and on call as required.
Qualifications:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology (highly preferred).
- TX State Medical License (required).
- Completed Gastroenterology Residency (required).
- ACLS certification (required).
- A clean malpractice record (highly preferred).
- Current NPDB report for presentation (required).
- Availability to cover shifts as needed.
License and Certification Requirements:
- Must hold a valid Texas medical license.
- Board certification in Gastroenterology is preferred but Board Eligible is accepted.
- ACLS certification is a must.
