American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night position requiring an active AZ or compact license and strong telemetry skills.
Responsibilities- Work in an acute hospital setting on the Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit (3rd Floor) with a 49-bed capacity
- Patient population includes CHF, COVID, respiratory, GI, diabetics, post-cath, total joint replacement, and telemetry patients
- Nurse to patient ratio is 1:5
- RNs are required to interpret and document telemetry strips at least once per shift
- Equipment includes BiPAP, CPAP, and capability for breathing treatments
- Uses Cerner EMR; prior experience recommended due to limited orientation
- Night shifts are 12 hours (7pm-7am) with self-scheduling and a requirement to work every other weekend
- Floating to East Campus and possibly PCU may be required if qualified
- No call or on-call responsibilities
- Responsibilities include caring for patients with complex medical, surgical, and cardiac conditions and accurately interpreting telemetry
- Team support includes Nurse Aides (1:10-15 ratio), Charge Nurse, and House Supervisor on site
- Orientation consists of one shift; strong previous experience is necessary
- Required to wear navy blue scrubs
- Must work a combination of days and eves during major holidays such as Christmas, New Year's, and Thanksgiving, as scheduled
- First time travelers will be considered
- RNs who do not pass the dysrhythmia exam within two attempts will be ineligible to work with this organization in AZ or Sacramento for six months
- Active AZ or compact RN license at time of application; pending licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum two years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
- Experience reading basic telemetry strips, with exposure to CVA, TIA, and total joint replacement patients
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam with a score of 80% or higher within two attempts prior to contract signing
- Cerner experience highly recommended
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past three years
- Copy of valid driver’s license required for consideration
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- May not have been employed by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the past year
