Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist - Electrophysiology (EP) Lab
Location: Winston-Salem, NC
Department: Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) Lab
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM - 4 Days a week (No weekends, no holidays, no on-call)
Procedural Volume: Approximately 12–13 cases daily
Patient Interaction: Direct involvement in patient care

- Education: Graduate from one of the following Accredited Education Programs required: • Registered Nurse (RN) • Registered Radiology Technology (RTR) • Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) • Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist (RCIS) • Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) • Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic (EMT-P) • Cardiovascular Tech (CVT) • Vascular Intervention (VI), required.
- Experience:
- If RN, one (1) year of Critical Care, Emergency Services, Cath/EP Lab, or Special Procedures experience, required.
- If EMT-P, two (2) years of acute care hospital experience, required.
- If RTR, RRT, RCIS, RCES, CVT or VI one (1) year of experience, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification:
- Registered Nurse (RN)-North Carolina Board of Nursing License Registered Radiology Technologist (RTR) -ARRT Radiology. Or Technologist Registry OR Respiratory Therapist-licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board (NCRCB) AND Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as RRT. OR Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist, Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist, Cardiovascular Tech, and Vascular Intervention-graduate of an accredited Cardiovascular Program. If the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CIS) is not a RN, RTR with CI or VI certification, he/she must obtain their Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) within 24 months of hire for continued employment.
- Additional Skills (required):
- Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skill validation and competency testing.
- Pass yearly Cardiac Dysrhythmias Test.
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist provides care to patients undergoing cardiac and vascular procedures. Collaborates with physicians and other team members to assess, implement and evaluate patient care in accordance with current policies and procedures.
