Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with corrections and telemetry experience, requiring an active OH or compact RN license and EPIC charting experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in a corrections PCU and float to Oncology Medical-Surgical (MS) units as needed
- Patient population includes ODRC inmates with oncology diagnoses, med-surg cases, and various comorbidities
- Staff ratio is 1:3 for PCU and 1:4-5 for MS units
- Locked, secure unit with access controlled by Corrections Officers
- 12-hour day, night, or rotating shifts; schedule reviewed every 4 weeks based on unit needs
- Uses Pyxis for medication administration and EPIC for charting
- Cardiac monitoring and telemetry required
- Responsibilities include comprehensive care for both oncology and non-oncology patients, including post-surgical, respiratory, and renal cases
- Must ensure safety while working in a secure corrections environment
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, physical therapy, radiology, respiratory, and social services
- Nurse will rotate between PCU and MS units as assigned
- First-time travelers will be considered
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required
- EPIC charting experience required
- Medical-Surgical or Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Competency with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation, emergency response, and basic med-surg skills
- Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, blood product administration, and high flow oxygen devices
