American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Med/Surg Tele unit, requiring a current MO or compact RN license and experience in cardiac monitoring.
Responsibilities- Work in a hospital Med/Surg Tele unit with a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Night shifts (3x12 hours, 18:45 – 07:15)
- Regular floating required between departments, units, and facilities as needed
- Expected to cover 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period
- Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments may be assigned
- Patient population includes intermediate care, stroke, heart failure, respiratory failure, post-surgical, renal failure, and cardiac drip patients
- Utilizes Epic EMR system
- Unit consists of 30 rooms with a daily census of approximately 30
- Responsible for caring for patients with a range of acute conditions including stroke, heart failure, respiratory failure, renal failure, and cardiac drips
- Provide advanced monitoring and respond to rapid response team activations as needed
- Float assignments may include similar acuity units across the health system
- Manages various equipment including telemetry, HFNC, oxygen delivery devices, wound vacs, and more
- Must adhere to strict RTO policy (no more than 7 days requested off)
- Holiday and weekend shifts are part of the scheduling expectations
- Completion of facility modules and compliance requirements before start
- Drug screen must be clear for assignment eligibility
- First-time travelers accepted
- Active MO or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, with at least 1 full year of Med/Surg Tele experience within the past 12 months
- No employment gaps greater than 90 days in the past year
- Certifications required: BLS and NIHSS; ACLS preferred
- Proficient in telemetry, cardiac monitoring, and management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and care of feeding tubes
- Epic EMR experience required
- Two professional references required: one supervisor-level or above and one charge RN, both from within the past year
- Not accepting local candidates; must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
