Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit night shift position requiring an active IL RN license, ACLS, BLS, and telemetry/cardiac skills.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Telemetry unit of an acute care hospital
• Specializes in cardiac patients; responsibilities include cardiac drip management, sheath pulls, and central line management
• Patient ratio is 1:5-6 on a busy 40-bed unit
• 12-hour night shifts, 18:45 to 7:15, three shifts per week
• Every other weekend work is required
• Floating expected within all inpatient units at both campuses as needed
• Uses Epic EMR; prior Epic experience required
• Scrub color is navy
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Must be self-sufficient and able to manage critical care cardiac drips and provide care for cardiac patients
• Hourly rounding and bedside shift reports with all patients are required
• Facility is Magnet designated
• No on-call requirement
• No local candidates accepted within 75 miles of the facility
• Return staff must have at least a one-year gap before returning as a traveler
• No more than 7 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed per 13-week contract; no RTO during first week of assignment
• Facial hair must allow for mask fit testing per policy
• No medical marijuana cards accepted

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration (IL is not a compact state)
• Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry nursing experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications are required
• Experience with cardiac drips, sheath pulls, and central line management required
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the facility
• References from two nursing supervisors within the past two years may be requested
