Schedule

5x8 shifts, weekdays, weekends, on call, callbacks, and holidays as per unit needs. Shift hours may vary between 36 and 40 hours per week. Must be able to report within 30 minutes to on call shifts.

Job Description

The X-Ray Technologist is responsible for performing radiographic imaging and ensuring patient safety throughout the imaging process. This role involves interacting with patients to explain procedures, positioning them appropriately, and operating radiologic equipment with care to produce high-quality diagnostic images.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity and review physician orders prior to procedures.
• Utilize x-ray equipment to capture images of patients' bones, tissues, and organs based on written orders.
• Explain x-ray procedures to patients and respond to their inquiries.
• Position patients for imaging, including assisting those with limited mobility.
• Ensure safe operation of radiologic equipment while minimizing patient dose.
• Observe patient status and address age-specific needs during imaging.
• Produce diagnostic images for radiology interpretation and maintain accurate patient records.
• Report any equipment malfunctions to management.
• Utilize electronic patient information systems for verification and documentation.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• New York State license (or ability to obtain prior to starting).
• At least two years of X-ray Technologist experience, preferably in a Level 1 trauma center.
• Experience with C-arm/O-arm within the past 8 months.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to lift and move patients as necessary.
• Effective analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• A patient and compassionate disposition with a commitment to teamwork.
