Gastroenterology Physician Opportunity
Seeking a Gastroenterologist with ERCP capabilities to provide inpatient-only coverage. The role focuses exclusively on in-house consults, ER consults, rounding, and procedures, with no outpatient clinic responsibilities.
Schedule & Coverage:
24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM 7:00 AM)
Specific coverage dates throughout 2026 (see list provided)
FTE: 1
Practice Setting:
Inpatient-only facility
Procedures generated from inpatient and ER consults
Average daily workload up to approximately 10 patients, with procedures as needed
Hospitalists handle patient admissions
Anesthesia support available; conscious sedation preferred when appropriate
EMR: Paragon, with a planned transition to Epic later in 2026
Endoscopy-trained GI nursing staff support procedures
Clinical Responsibilities & Case Mix:
Perform standard GI procedures including endoscopies and colonoscopies
ERCP required
Inpatient rounding required
Common cases include abdominal pain, GI bleeds, small bowel obstruction, food bolus, ulcer disease, and gastritis; may diagnose but not treat carcinoma
Reason for Coverage:
Permanent Gastroenterologist departure
Credentialing:
Credentialing timeframe: approximately days
Emergency privileges may be granted for clean files
Requirements & Qualifications:
Texas medical license required
Completion of Gastroenterology residency/fellowship required
ACLS certification required
Board Certified highly preferred; Board Eligible accepted
Clean malpractice history highly preferred
Excessive malpractice claims or medical board discipline are considered deal breakers
