Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Pocatello, Idaho (83201) – Idaho healthcare jobs
• Unit: Med/Surg Floor 4A
• Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: January 5, 2026 – End: April 6, 2026)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Unit Size: 48 beds, average daily census of 44
• Weekend Coverage: Required (2 per pay period, flexible scheduling)
• Orientation: 24 hours onsite
• 100-mile radius rule: Must reside at least 100 miles from facility

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school
• Active RN license in Idaho
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience
• Experience with Epic EMR charting preferred
• Ability to manage patient ratios of 5-7
• Proficient in Med/Surg nursing skills: IV and central line care, wound care, blood product administration, tracheostomy care, chest tube management, feeding tube care
• Willingness to float to other hospital units as needed
• Strong communication, organizational, and critical thinking abilities

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a busy Med/Surg unit
• Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Respond rapidly to life-threatening situations with appropriate interventions
• Document patient care accurately in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and more)
• Prioritize and delegate tasks to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Maintain professional development and clinical competencies
• Adapt to evolving patient safety protocols and departmental needs
