Opportunity:
RN - Stepdown
Job Details:
• Work night shifts Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• 2 weekends required per schedule
• Work into the permanent staff holiday schedule
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3 for stepdown patients, 1:4-6 for floor patients
• Unit has 32 total beds (12 stepdown beds and 20 floor beds)
• Required to read telemetry strips in conjunction with monitor techs
• Manage typical medical-surgical population including chest pain, COPD, altered mental status, pneumonia, UTI, abdominal pain
• Handle overflow patients from most services and hospice patients
• Manage drips in stepdown area, PCAs and heparin on floor
• May float to any floor or stepdown unit as needed
• Dress code requires royal blue scrubs
• Use EPIC charting system
• BLS certification required
• BSN degree not required
• Up to 2 shift cancellations allowed per 13-week contract
• Driver's license address must be outside 50 miles from facility

The facility operates as part of a major healthcare system and features modern medical technology and equipment. The stepdown unit combines both intermediate care and medical-surgical floor capabilities, with dedicated telemetry monitoring and specialized nursing support including charge nurses and house supervisors available around the clock.
