Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN for a hospital-based position in North Carolina requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and Epic EMR proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 24-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, neuro, and observation cases
• Average RN patient ratio is 1:5-6, with potential surges up to 1:7-8
• Shifts are 12 hours, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm or 6:45 am to 7:15 pm
• Weekend rotation is required every other weekend
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• No on-call or call back responsibilities
• Floating required within region and scope of practice, with paid travel time between facilities if floating mid-shift
• Remote telemetry monitoring is provided by a Tele tech
• EMR system used is Epic, with at least 6 months of Epic experience required
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Orientation includes New Employee Orientation plus two days of departmental training
• Support staff includes CNAs, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, 24/7 RT and intensivist, and a hospitalist available on days with virtual coverage in the evenings and overnight
• Navy scrubs are required for this unit
• Unit has a supportive team culture
• Free parking is available for staff
• Maximum of 6 days off may be approved (excluding holidays); additional time off must be added to end of contract

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele RN experience required
• At least 6 months of Epic EMR experience
• Proficient with cardiac rhythm interpretation and non-titrating cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone
• Strong general Med/Surg skills including managing tubes/drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care
