American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN with recent acute care and telemetry experience, valid WI or compact RN license, and proficiency in Epic.
Responsibilities- Position based in the Neuro ICU, an 18-bed adult critical care unit specializing in neuro cases such as stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, surgical resections, and trauma
- Shifts are evening and night (8/12 hours, 7:00 PM–7:30 AM and 11:00 PM–7:30 AM) with weekend and some holiday rotation
- Travelers are the first to float between units and may be assigned to different locations as needed
- Epic EMR is used; recent experience with Epic is required
- Team-oriented environment emphasizing nurse-driven collaboration and interdisciplinary care
- Role includes taking care of critically ill neuro patients, performing specialized procedures such as hemodynamic monitoring and hypothermia intervention
- Pass/fail telemetry exam must be completed before starting, with strict criteria and up to two attempts allowed
- First-time travelers will be considered
- Orientation provided, typically lasting about one week according to department schedule
- Mandatory competency renewal for telemetry is required as per calendar year
- Schedule includes weekend and some holiday coverage requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association are required
- At least two years of recent acute care experience within the last three years in neuro or critical care
- Experience with intracranial pressure (ICP) or ventriculostomy required
- Strong skills in basic arrhythmia recognition and ability to pass a telemetry test prior to start
- Experience with Epic charting within the past 12 months preferred
- Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
