The Surgical Technologist assists surgeons and nurses during invasive surgical procedures by ensuring a sterile environment, proper equipment function, and patient safety. They are skilled in sterile techniques, human anatomy, and surgical procedure support using advanced technologies like the da Vinci Surgical System. Certification, formal training, and BLS certification are required, with an emphasis on high patient care standards in a hospital setting.

Location: Coastal Carolina Medical Center - 1000 Medical Center Dr, Hardeeville, SC 29927
Schedule: 3x12 or 4x10 schedule, 6:30 am-7:00 pm, Call and weekend rotation

Responsibilities
The Certified Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Certified surgical technologists possess expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic techniques and combine the knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician's performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of an accredited educational program for surgical technologists
- Must meet one of the following pathways:
Hold and maintain the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential through the NBSTSA
Completed surgical technology training through the U.S. Armed Forces or U.S. Public Health Service
Practiced as a surgical technologist in South Carolina prior to January 1, 2008
Serving as a surgical technologist in the federal government
- Current BLS certification required
- NBSTSA certification required
- Previous hospital experience preferred
